Numurus is a Seattle-based software company focused on one problem: making edge AI accessible to teams that build real-world hardware systems.
Teams building smart systems - robots, autonomous vehicles, sensor arrays, industrial automation - spend most of their time on infrastructure. Connecting hardware, wiring up AI models, writing automation logic, managing deployments. The actual application work gets a fraction of the effort.
Numurus was founded in 2017 to fix that. We build NEPI (Numurus Edge Platform Interface), an open-source software platform that handles roughly 90% of what smart systems need out of the box. Teams customize the remaining 10% for their specific application.
Three product lines, one mission: get your smart system to production faster.
Open-source edge AI platform built on ROS 2. Plug-and-play drivers, AI model deployment, low-code automation, and browser-based monitoring. Available under BSD-3 license with educational, professional, and enterprise tiers.
OEM edge-compute processors and packaged systems pre-loaded with NEPI. Tested, configured, and ready to deploy on NVIDIA Jetson and x86 platforms.
Software development, hardware prototyping, system integration, and ongoing project support. Our team works alongside yours to get from concept to deployed product.
NEPI works across sectors where hardware meets AI at the edge.
Real-time data processing and AI-enabled sensing for field research, ocean science, and environmental monitoring.
Hands-on AI and robotics tools for universities, community colleges, and competition teams including MATE ROV and FIRST Robotics.
AI-enabled products to market faster. Automated inspection, smart sensors, and autonomous systems for maritime, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
Edge AI for autonomous threat detection, surveillance, and maritime domain awareness. Deployed in DARPA programs.
NEPI is deployed in real systems by teams solving hard problems.
360-degree automated maritime threat detection on autonomous surface vehicles. Six-month development cycle.
AI-driven subsea inspection automation connected to an ROV control system.
AI-enabled sonar products developed and shipping in 5 months with two engineers.
Student capstone project: AI-based drone automation and remote monitoring for search and rescue.
The team behind Numurus and NEPI.
Jason founded Numurus in 2017 with the goal of building the standard software platform for edge AI systems. His background in embedded systems, robotics, and ocean engineering shaped NEPI's focus on real-world hardware integration and practical automation.
Dannielle leads Numurus sales and marketing efforts, connecting teams across scientific research, education, and industry with the tools they need to build and deploy smart systems.
Numurus holds USPTO patent US 12/222,307B2 covering the core Smart Edge Platform technology that powers NEPI. This patent covers the architecture for standardized hardware abstraction, automated device recognition, and edge-native AI deployment that differentiates NEPI from general-purpose robotics frameworks.
NEPI is released under the BSD-3 open-source license, giving teams full access to the source code while Numurus retains the underlying platform patents.
Every industry that uses sensors, cameras, or actuators will eventually need an edge AI platform. Today, most teams build that layer from scratch. We're building the standard platform so they don't have to.
Whether you're exploring edge AI for a new project or looking for a platform partner, we'd like to hear from you.
